HAFC Housing Counseling Services

The Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) strives to reach more homebuyers than ever before in Fulton County and throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area through its homeownership program. The HAFC is a HUD certified housing counseling agency committed to assisting potential and existing homeowners by providing the following free pre and post-purchase services:

Home Buyer Education Workshop
A one day, eight (8) hour pre-purchase workshop designed to provide the basic skills required to become long term owners of residential real estate and educate individuals about the home buying process. This course includes presentations by industry professionals on topics ranging from the mortgage loan process to choosing a property.  You do not have to be a client of the HAFC to take part in this workshop.

Confidential One-on-One Credit Counseling
Certified housing counselors meet individually with clients to discuss financial goals and ways to improve credit, pay down debt and understand how to analyze a credit report.

Community Resources
Offered to clients on an ongoing basis to provide funds toward down payment and/or closing costs. HAFC has partnering relationships with various organizations and government agencies who administer community seconds programs.

Mitigating the Risk: Foreclosure Intervention & Mortgage Delinquency
Support is offered to persons with mortgage delinquency through loss mitigation counseling services. Our goal is to play a solid role in foreclosure awareness efforts to minimize the foreclosure rate in the Atlanta metropolitan area. However, please note that the HAFC does not hold the power to approve any type of modifications to your loan or a short sale or refinance, as these decisions can only be made by your lender. However, we can provide resources and education to help guide you in the decision-making process, as well as advocate on your behalf.

You do not have to be a client of the HAFC to take advantage of these services.
